Philosophy of Education
As children, we are all influenced by important people who enter our lives. Due to the fact that schooling is such a significant role during childhood, my teachers have always been my greatest influences. As I continued down the road of education, my passion for teaching grew stronger, and I became increasingly goal-driven. In my opinion, the most effective teacher is the one who can impact and inspire a student enough to gain the desire to learn. An educator’s job is to set an example for the students by being an honest, patient, trustworthy, accepting, and nurturing person. Our children are the future; their young minds filled with imagination, integrity, eagerness, and discovery, and as an educator, I feel as if it is my responsibility to help them express their wonderful minds and open the doors for opportunities to learn more.
A classroom should be a safe and accepting environment in which a student feels a sense of security upon arrival and throughout the day. Following the feeling of the classroom, the second most important aspect is the set-up. A classroom must be designed with the student’s best interests in mind. Exploration is an essential part to designing an ideal learning atmosphere. Studies have shown that students learn best through exploration of new stimuli, so a room with the freedom to explore frequently updated materials will stimulate a child’s development.
